Period for many women is a horror. The excruciating pain and cramps that accompanies with periods make the day and night unbearable for many women. A healthy menstruation is a 3-day cycle which repeats every 25-28 days. Mild cramps are usual in during the period. But for working women this might become a little uncomfortable.
However, there are many ways that can prevent the pain and make the day a little more bearable for women. Following a few simple steps given below will definitely make the period days easier.
Drinking more water
Drinking at least 7-8 glasses of water will help ease bloating. Bloating makes the pain worse. Water balances the loss of fluid from the body. Many women experience diarrhea during periods. A glass of water with mint and honey will protect the body from dehydration.
It may sound unthinkable during those days, but exercising help stretching the muscles which create cramps in the lower abdomen. When the body is doing any sort of exercise, it pumps more blood into the stream. This helps to release endorphins to counteract the prostaglandins and reduce your cramps. Exercising 3-4 times a week is also good for health.
Heat helps to ease the cramping muscles and soothes the pain. Heat patches or hot water bags can be used to apply heat. Even a small bottle filled up with lukewarm water can ease the pain if applied.
Essential oil massage
Studies show that oil massage with aromatic essential oils like lavender essential oil, clary sage essential oil, or marjoram essential oil help to reduce the pain. The beautiful aroma helps relaxing the body and mind.
When nothing else works it is advised to visit a gynecologist for medications. Some women experience much worse muscle cramps than others. There are many related health issues which can make the pain unendurable. It is advised not to consume any medication without consulting a doctor first.
